The My-Kap™ Story

The background story behind the My-Kap™ is pretty much like most little inventions: Necessity is the Mother of Invention.

I got a Keurig Coffee Maker a couple of years ago. I was quickly enamored with the great flavors and ease of use. All the details that make the Keurig System great were big value points for me. All but one...

Why would you throw away such a great little product like a K-Cup? Can't you recycle K-Cups somehow? Surely there must be some way to keep K-cups out of the landfill and save some money!   So, I began where most people have, with trying to secure aluminum foil or wax paper, or some other substance to the top of a re-filled K-Cup. But I got the same results as most people: The coffee grounds spill out and into your cup!

Being an engineer, and one who loves a good challenge, I began to try other things until I finally rested on a special "plug" that I made by hand. It was made by cutting a round piece of Lexan™ and then "sizing" it down by hand until it fit into the lip of the K-Cup. Each one a work of art. I began to use them, and then to finally sell them online through eBay. To my surprise, many others have had the same idea and were anxious to test the product.

After selling a number of them on eBay, I had a professional injection mold created and had them professionally made to exacting standards. Each one is still a work of art, but they are all the same! I now have a patent pending on it and it is an international success! It not only works, but it gets the cost down to pennies per cup instead of quarters per cup!

You can save yourself a lot of trial and error by taking advantage of the My-Kap™ lids to recycle and reuse your K-Cups!

Enjoy!
